User Administration

Adding Users

Adding users in a cluster is a process that might require two steps:

  1. Add the user to the LDAP directory by selecting User Management from within the YaST Control Center. The administrator password for the LDAP directory is the same as the root password for the head node.
  2. If you want to allow the new user to have admin privileges on the job queue, re-run Moab Cluster Builder and go to Advanced > Security; then add the new user to the list of admin users. You do not need to switch off the nodes if this is the only change you apply.

Deleting Users

Deleting users also might require two steps:

  1. Delete the user from the LDAP directory by selecting User Management from within the YaST Control Center. The administrator password for the LDAP directory is the same as the root password for the head node.
  2. Remove the user from the admin list in Moab Cluster Builder (in Advanced > Security). You do not need to switch off the nodes if this is the only change you apply.

User Homes

User homes are NFS mounted across the cluster, so for every user (except root) the home folder and all of its contents will be available on every node. (You need to log in as the owner of that home folder.)
