I built torque 2.4.0b1 using the default configure options on an iMac
running Mac OS X 10.5.7.
Jobs ran succesfully but some (not all) got stuck in the E state.

/var/log/system.log showed the errors:
pbs_mom: error for object non-aligned pointer being freed (multiple times)
Followed by:
pbs_mom: sys_copy, command '/bin/cp -rp ^C (path to output file)' failed
with status=1
pbs_mom: req_cpyfile, Unable to copy file ^C to (path to output file)

/Library/Logs/Crashreporter/pbs_mom_(timestamp).crash showed the error:

Process: pbs_mom
Path: /usr/local/sbin/pbs_mom
Identifier: pbs_mom
Code Type: X86 (Native)
Parent Process: pbs_mom
Thread 0 Crashed:

2 pbs_mom 0x00030487 process_request + 487
3 libtorque.2.dylib 0x000a00a5 wait_request + 293
4 pbs_mom 0x00017bb2 main_loop + 290
5 pbs_mom 0x00017fe5 main + 101
6 pbs_mom 0x00002506 start + 54

To troubleshoot this I reinstalled torque using
CFLAGS=-g ./configure
make install

and now everything seems to work fine, so you can try this as a
workaround if you have the same error.
