Try adding -V to your qsub line. This will allow the job to inherit the user's env, including $DISPLAY

It works for me.
After logging to mastr node using ssh -X , were you able to start any GUI based application like xterm, webbrowser

Hello,
I'm trying submit and interactive job using qsub and TORQUE 2.1.9.<http://2.1.9.> I want to forward my X display so a GUI can be run. We always submit jobs by remotely logging into our cluster master node (usually ssh –X) and then submitting the job to the compute node. I have been unsuccessful using qsub –I –X for this purpose, possibly because of the double forwarding. Has anyone done this before?
