[torqueusers] job not running in batch mode

One possibility to try out if you are using bash as your shell is to 
put:

set -x
pwd
echo $USER

just before you start running commands in your PBS script (i.e. after 
and #PBS directives).

Then at least you know you should see that output in the .o file.
