this looks a lot like a regression that was introduced in 2.1.4 and
fixed in 2.1.6:

2.1.6
  b - freebsd5 build fix
  b - fix 2.1.4 regression with TM on single-node jobs
  b - fix 2.1.4 regression with rerunning jobs
  b - additional spool handling security fixes



I'll try to fire 2.1.6 up on an OS X box to do a little testing
