If you compile LAM with TM support (the Torque/PBS task manager API),
lamboot will detect the torque environment and use TM to launch all of
the lamd processes. When a user runs qdel, all lamd processes will be
cleaned up properly because they are all under torque's control. As
for using ssh in your perl script, you'll probably want to look at
pbsdsh. You can check the environment for some variables that are
only defined within a batch job (like $PBS_NODEFILE), and if that
variable is defined use pbsdsh, otherwise fall back to your old
behavior. That way the script can work in or out of the batch system.
