Thank you josh for you help.

I check the FC5 following your suggestion. It shows that the SMP kernel is
running. In addition, the /proc/cpuinfo shows that there are two CPUs. If I
append 'np=4' to the nodename in server_priv/nodes, the torque, through
maui, shows that there is only 1 nodes by 4 processors. Right now, I can get
4 single-node jobs running simultaneously, but not any multi-node jobs.

Since I installed the torque from the fedora RPM repos, I really doubt there
may be some options closed when the RPMS were compiled.

Xu,

Make sure that your FC5 system is acutally booting an SMP kernel.
Its possible that it is not, and therefor only showing one processor. You
can do this by running uname -a. Check to see that the kernel version has
'smp' on the end of it. If it does not, you'll need to /boot/grub/menu.lst
to set the default to be the SMP kernel.

Hi All

I know, I know, we're not on the latest version of torque, but I wanted to
know if there are any KNOWn bugs regarding submitting jobs using torque
1.2.0p5. We have the requested resources free, however the jobs seem to go
into the queue randomly (as in most times they start running, sometimes they
queue up when they really should be running). We were thinking of getting
the latest Torque version, however we wanted to hold off on that unless
there were KNOWN issues with the version we use.

Hi all,

I'm trying to use the "mem" attribute with torque. pbsnodes is telling me:
physmem=7990036kb.

If I start a job with
qsub -V -l nodes=1,mem=10000000kb
xterm
^D

torque starts this job with no problems. But I obviously requested more than
available.
pmem attribute doesn't work either.

Any idea?
Regards,
Roland

Which scheduler are you using? I know Maui and Moab can use memory limits
to determine if a node is suitable for a job or not, but I'm not so sure
about pbs_sched.
