CLUSTER RESOURCES ANNOUNCES FEBRURARY TRAINING SCHEDULE
Cluster Resources will host a week of free
VNC/Teleconference-based training sessions February
21-24. Twice during the week, Cluster Resources will
hold two-day training sessions to discuss HPC challenges
and solutions. The finalized schedule is available on
the Web site at www.clusterresources.com/freetraining.
This site also provides information on how to participate
in February's training.
Each class is limited to 20 organizations and each
organization may allow as many people as desired to attend.
Attendees are not obligated to attend an entire two-day
session, but may pick and choose the sub-sessions they
are interested in attending. First preference will be
given to paying customers and partners, but we expect to
have available space for evaluating organizations as well.
The last training session Cluster Resources hosted in
August 2005 was completely filled, so please reply
promptly to request your spot.

AMAZON.COM'S INTERNET DATA MINING SERVICE DEPLOYED WITH
MOAB
Amazon.com, through its subsidiary Alexa, announced
Monday, Dec. 12 the availability of their Alexa Web
Search Platform (http://websearch.alexa.com). The new
service provides public access to a collection of more
than 300 terabytes of data collected by Alexa's Web crawl,
essentially three copies of the relevant Internet. At
the core of this service is Cluster Resources' Moab '
Utility/Hosting Suite software which enables Alexa's
dynamic creation of personalized cluster environments
for each individual search request.
The Alexa service leverages Moab Technologies to create
a customized Web-based interface that lets users submit
requests and monitor their accounts. When a customer
accesses the Alexa Web Search Platform, Moab sets up a
customized Virtual Private Cluster (VPC) - a complete
computing environment of all needed hardware, network,
storage, security, accounting information, etc. The VPC
is unique because unlike traditional methods which take
hours to days to set up a customized cluster environment,
Moab can set up a VPC almost instantaneously, allowing
customers to get their work done quicker.
Moab Utility/Hosting Suite is a full solution that enables
utility computing in HPC environments, including
instantaneous provisioning through its VPC, scheduling,
accounting/billing, security, etc. For more information on
the Moab Utility/Hosting Suite visit
http://www.clusterresources.com/utilitycomputing.

DID YOU KNOW: EXPLICIT AND IMPLICIT DATA STAGING
When a job runs on a remote cluster, it usually produces
two files as a byproduct: a "standard out" and a "standard
error" file. When Moab is set up in data staging mode,
implicit data staging will automatically copy the files
back to the node where the job was submitted so users or
administrators don't have to do so manually.
Moab also gives users the option to retrieve the rest of
the files created by a job manually through explicit data
staging which allows users special control over which
files are staged back. Implicit and explicit data staging
give users ease of use while increasing their control to
retrieve files.
To learn more about data staging, contact a Cluster
Resources representative at info at clusterresources.com
or by phone at +1 (801) 873-3400.
