Hi folks,
On a whim I compared the sizes of torque-1.1.0p3 gzip'd and bzip2'd:
# zcat -v torque-1.1.0p3.tar.gz > torque.tar
torque-1.1.0p3.tar.gz: 82.7%
# bzip2 -v torque.tar
torque.tar: 8.459:1, 0.946 bits/byte, 88.18% saved, 12421120 in, 1468327 out.
# ls -s torque*tar.*
2108 torque-1.1.0p3.tar.gz 1440 torque.tar.bz2
If you guys pay for outbound bandwidth then a 600KB saving per grab may be
worth it to you.. :-)
cheers!
Chris
