Who knows - the code has a long history of over two decades [1] now and
I doubt if anyone ever tracked who contributed what lines after the
various maintainers started accepting patches from the community, at
least up until it started to be kept in a version control system in the
mid 2000's.

For instance, I've never assigned copyright over any of my patches I've
submitted, so I (or possibly my employer of the time) would hold
copyright over those parts.
