Hi all,

There is a new 2.5.3 snapshot available for testing. It can be found at http://www.clusterresources.com/downloads/torque/snapshots/torque-2.5.3-snap.201010201546.tar.gz

We keep adding optional features. The latest feature is a job log. We now have the ability to log all jobs in a flat XML file. The new log file location is under $TORQUE_HOME/job_logs. The log files use the same naming convention as the server and mom log files.

To enable jog logging you use the server parameter record_job_info. This is a Boolean value. If set to true all jobs will be logged to the file.

There is a second optional parameter that will record the contents of the job script. This parameter is record_job_script. It is also a Boolean value and must be set to true in order to record the script information. It is also dependent on record_job_info. If record_job_info is not set to true record_job_script is ignored.

There are three other server parameters to help manage the log files.

job_log_file_max_size -- specifies a soft limit, in kilobytes, for the job log file. The filesize is checked every 5 minutes, and if the current day filesize is greater than or equal to this value then it will be rolled from X to X.1 and a new empty log will be opened. Any value ⇐ 0 will be ignored by pbs_server (the log will not be rolled).

job_log_file_roll_depth -- This parameter controlls how deep the current day log files will be rolled, if log_file_max_size is set, before they are deleted. Default is 1

job_log_keep_days -- The number of days a log will be stored. After this limit is exceeded the log file is removed. Default is unlimited.

It is now optional to convert the serverdb file to XML format. By default TORQUE 2.5.3 will use the legacy serverdb format. To enable XML you need to configure the build using the option --enable-server-xml.

    ./configure --enable-server-xml

If you configure torque with this option TORQUE will convert the serverdb file to XML. We do not have a way to change the file back to its original binary format. This is a one-way upgrade. Be sure to backup the serverdb file before making this conversion. We have tested this upgrade with 2.1-fixes, 2.3-fixes, 2.4-fixes and 2.5-fixes successfully.

Please download this and let us know of any problems or suggestions.
