Well yes, exactly. And I would love to see this kind of development
effort to be sustained.

The real issue is that we pretty much need the current semantics of
TORQUE server to be maintained as they are.

OK, I will try to explain what we are doing just now.

Our current grid:

The whole point is transition from a single server installation of
PBSPro to a distributed system of Torque installations. One server for
such large cluster is extremely unreliable and doesn't allow any further

The first step is a simple M:N scheme, where we have M schedulers and N
servers talking to each other. Just a very light patch was needed for
this to work.

We have a lot of additional functionality in Torque because our grid is
heavily using virtualization technologies.

Our solution is based on pbs_sched because it was easy to modify. The
scheduling algorithm isn't important as it will be replace by a
sophisticated CPS solver in near future.

We do not rely on pbs_sched functionality, but we do rely on Torque
server functionality and current understanding of nodespec (with some
tweaks like adding support for generic resources).
