[torquedev] Cygwin patch and generic Code Quality

The point is that the patch author can make these modifications in no
time (because he just wrote the code).

It will take me way longer.

I had a patch for this almost finished. The problem is that new code
with the A_ macro is added each day. Its hard to keep up.
