[Mauiusers] Multi-Dimension Fairness Policies...

Hello,

I'd like to implement some limits on the number of jobs on a per-class,
per-group basis, i.e., for a subset of machines in my cluster, I'd like to
limit the number of jobs each group of users can use.

In Section 6.2.1.2 of the Maui manual, this looks to be specified, on a
per-user basis, by settings such as:

CLASSCFG[fast] MAXPROC[USER:steve]=3

I'd like to implement the following for our queues:

CLASSCFG[fast] MAXPROC[GROUP:group1]=10

i.e., limit all users in the group called "group1" to collectively running
a maximum 10 jobs on the "fast" nodes.

However, also in Section 6.2.1.2 of the manual, it says:

"NOTE: Maui 3.2 does not fully support all multi-dimensional throttling
policies. For such systems, a subset of these policies can be specified
using the attributes MAXNODEPERUSER, MAXJOBPERUSER, and MAXPROCPERUSER"

So it doesn't look like setting such as "MAXPROC[GROUP:group1]=10" will
work (and I can't seem to get them to work in 3.2.9p13, and I'm assuming
later releases in 3.2 will still have this limitation) , and there is no
equivalent "MAXNODEPERGROUP" setting for groups, so is it possible to
limit the number of jobs on a per-class, per-group basis?

Best Regards,
Richard Christie
