NEW RELEASE: MOAB CLUSTER SUITE® 4.2.2
Cluster Resources, Inc.TM today announced the release of Moab Cluster
Suite®
4.2.2, a cluster management solution that integrates scheduling,
monitoring
and reporting of cluster workloads, which increases organizations'
return on
HPC hardware and software investments.
Moab 4.2.2's new expanded capabilities simplify clusters for end users,
grant
administrators greater control of cluster workload and resources, and
increase
utilization through advanced scheduling features. Moab helps
organizations get
more performance and ease-of-use from their clusters than ever before.
End users can now manage their jobs easier with Moab 4.2.2's new
features
including basic and advanced job submission, job templates and
integrated
documentation. These new features are designed to reduce training time
for
administrators and help both novice and advanced end users control
their jobs
with ease.
Moab 4.2.2 includes significant advancements in its scheduling
capabilities,
including scheduling of arbitrary resources (e.g. operating systems,
DVD drives,
networks, etc.) and multi-cluster scheduling. With Moab, organizations
schedule
cluster resources more efficiently and improve resource utilization.
To empower administrators and decrease workload, Moab 4.2.2. includes
capabilities
like triggers, which can be easily created through an administrator
interface.
Triggers can be set to perform any policy or task based on any
specified event,
such as canceling a reservation if it is not used after 20 minutes from
its start
time. With the limitless possibilities triggers provide, administrators
can now
quickly accomplish manual tasks, decrease downtime and improve cluster
availability
for end users.
"As organizations use Moab Cluster Suite, our goal is for them to
reach the highest
potential their clusters can offer," said David Jackson, CTO of
Cluster Resources.
"We offer an inexpensive solution to increase cluster efficiency as
we make clusters
more easy to use for everyone."
Cluster Resources invites the community to try A free Moab Cluster
Suite 4.2.2
evaluation at www.clusterresources.com/eval3, which can be used on a
personal
cluster or on Cluster Resources' test cluster. Cluster Resources
welcomes any
comments on products from the community. Current customers may download

TORQUE* NOW COMPATIBLE WITH MAC OS X TIGER
TORQUE Resource Manager is now compatible with Mac OS X Tiger, making
it more
convenient and applicable for the open source community. A member of
the TORQUE
user list reported earlier this month he was able to successfully
download and
use TORQUE on his Mac OS X Tiger environment. TORQUE, which is based on
the
original OpenPBS project is also compatible with Linux and Unix
operating systems.
To learn how to apply TORQUE on a Mac OS X Tiger operating system,
visit the user
list archives at
www.supercluster.org/pipermail/torqueusers/2005-October/002246.html.
To download TORQUE, go to www.clusterresources.com/torque.

NEW WEB SITE FEATURES
Cluster Resources released a newly designed Web site earlier this
month. Aside
from the Web site's new look, it now includes features to better assist
visitors,
including a new customer download page, a newsletter archive, a larger
list of
third party products, and a customer support ticket system.
"The new Web site will help visitors find what they are looking for
with ease,"
said Michael Jackson, VP of business development. "We want visitors
to feel
welcome as they look for resources to help them with their
high-performance
computing needs."
Visit www.clusterresources.com to view the Web site's new design and
browse
through new features. If there are any features you would like to see
added to
Cluster Resources' Web site, please e-mail info at clusterresources.com.

SCl05 PLANNING AND ACTIVITIES
Cluster Resources will present Cluster, Grid and Hosting solutions at
Supercomputing
2005 to visitors at its booth - 2036. Demonstrations presented by
Cluster Resources'
technical team will discuss how to optimize clusters and improve
performance of HPC
resources. They will demonstrate how to create a high performance grid
in 60 seconds
that is easy to use and improves sharing and collaboration.
Cluster Resources will also exhibit how hosted resources can seamlessly
and instantly
be added to a cluster. This can offset surges in computational needs,
guarantee
service levels, provide access to unique but rarely used resources, and
host excess
capacity, software and services to share costs or increase profits.
Come visit Cluster Resources' booth 2036 to listen to any of these
demonstrations,
as well as ask questions about how Cluster Resources' software can help
your
organization, or tell us what capabilities or services you want added
in the future.

DID YOU KNOW: EVALUATING MOAB
For organizations that are interested in evaluating Moab Cluster Suite
4.2.2's
new features, Cluster Resources provides several options for testing
Moab software.
-Users may connect to the Online Demonstration Cluster to make real
changes and
see real results produced on a live cluster. From their desktop, users
can manage
jobs, change settings and create reports to understand how the software
would work
on their own clusters.
-Users can also test Moab evaluation software on their own cluster in
Monitor mode.
In Monitor mode, Moab will initialize, contact the resource manager and
conduct
scheduling cycles exactly as it would normally, but its ability to
actually impact
the system is disabled. Users can fully test Moab in this disabled
state, creating
reservations, prioritizing jobs and enforcing policies, without the
potential for
cluster downtime or other complications. Moab will report the results
it would produce
if the cluster were running on its software so users can see the actual
impact it can
make. Moab can even be run in Monitor mode while an older version of
Moab is managing
a cluster so organizations can test the compatibility of new Moab
versions.
To evaluate Moab using one of these two capabilities, visit
www.clusterresources.com/eval3 and click download evaluation on the
bottom of the page.
Users who already have Moab can learn how to run it in Monitor Mode at
www.clusterresources.com/monitor.
