I'm not even sure why I'm bothering to answer, since my solution is so
gross (but Mondays make people do crazy things).  Use changeparam to set
MAXPROC on that node to 8:

changeparam NODECFG[edda034] MACPROC=8

Then use on to change it back.

Yuck.
