Server is Debian 6 (Squeeze), as are pretty much all our non-HPC
systems here - Debian is our server OS of choice and a lot easier to
maintain and upgrade than RHEL/SLES in our experience. Better support
too.
The clients are also on CentOS/RHEL 5.x (initially installed with 5.4
and upgraded ever since).
On the HPC systems we use a dedicated install of Perl for Gold so we
can NFS export it to all clients without needing to install the Perl
modules it depends on everywhere. We build code for /usr/local on the
SGI Altix XE running CentOS and then rsync it over to the IBM
iDataPlex running RHEL.
Hope this helps!
cheers,
Chris
