FREE CLUSTER AND WORKLOAD MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Cluster ResourcesTM is offering free training on cluster and workload management during the last week of August. One day classes will be held Monday Aug. 22 through Friday Aug. 26 via VNC/Teleconference sessions and will cover topics such as sources of cluster productivity loss, holistic cluster management and end user and administrator empowerment.

Each days' training will be broken into two three-hour sessions and will include live configuration, live troubleshooting, live demos, and interactive usage of graphical and web-based user and administration tools from Cluster Resources' technical team.

To view the training agenda visit www.clusterresources.com/news/. To request an invitation to the conference, please email Cluster Resources' Outreach Director at awebb@clusterresources.com. Each class is limited to 20 people and each organization may allow as many people as desired to attend. First preference will be given to paying customers, but others will be invited as space allows.

CLUSTER RESOURCES HOSTS EXHIBIT AT SCl05

Visitors to the annual Supercomputing 2005 (SCl05) conference can visit with Cluster Resources'TM Developers and staff and test Cluster Resources' software live. Cluster Resources will host an exhibit at the conference held in Seattle, Wash. Nov. 15-17 2005.

Guests can ask questions and provide feedback on MoabTM, Maui or TORQUE to a team of technical and product managers. The conference gives visitors a chance to discuss unique and detailed cluster or grid management challenges and brainstorm possible solutions with developers. There is expected to be free evaluation copies of Cluster Resources' software that anyone can take and use on their clusters or grids.

Cluster Resources' booth, number 2036, is located at the south end of the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. To learn more about the SCl05 conference, visit the Web site at sc05.supercomputing.org/home.html. TORQUE UPDATES

TORQUE 1.2.0p5 incorporates more updates from the user community and Cluster ResourcesTM and will be released this week. The new patch provides improved diagnostics of overall system failures and better handling of resource failures. Users will also enjoy improved scheduling optimizations and numerous small bug fixes.

In the next TORQUE release, Cluster Resources will provide improved high availability and rapid start up features. A new set of TORQUE documentation will also be released shortly.

MOAB GRID SUITE® UPDATES

While the latest releases of Moab Workload Manager® enables the creation of highly manageable, flexible and scalable grids, Cluster ResourcesTM is making grid management even easier with the new Beta version of Moab Grid Suite®. The new Moab Grid Suite will include the latest release of Moab Grid Manager®, a graphical tool which allows management, analysis, and reporting for grids. Moab Grid Suite is an extension of Moab Cluster Suite®, so administrators can manage grid environments with the same ease and exacting control that Moab Cluster Suite facilitates in cluster environments.

With Moab Grid Suite, organizations will be able to create virtual private clusters that can enable account based resource access controls for grid workload. Virtual private clusters can be used for political sharing of resources managing information so as to minimize end-user disputes and confusion.

Moab Grid Suite also has improved configuration so administrators can quickly setup, tune, and troubleshoot Grid environments. To learn more about Moab Grid Suite, call a Cluster Resources representative at +1 (801) 873-3400.

DID YOU KNOW: HIGH AVAILABILITY

When management nodes fail, organizations can experience significant losses in terms of time, money, and productivity. Moab Workload Manager's® High Availability features can immediately redirect scheduling services to a backup server to avoid downtime when such an event occurs.

In High Availability Mode, Moab runs on a primary node and a backup node, and actively shares configuration, state, and historical information, so if the primary goes down, clients are automatically redirected to the backup and it takes over with no noticeable side-effects. The backup server will continue to schedule until the primary recovers.

To learn more about using the high availability feature, visit www.clusterresources.com/products/mwm/docs/22.2ha.shtml. To download a free evaluation of Moab Cluster Suite, go to www.clusterresources.com/products/eval.
